Before, during and after treatment.
The goal of this treatment was to stabilize the drum face for exhibition at the Perinton Historical Society. The front and back surfaces of the drum were cleaned with grated eraser crumbs. The surface of the paint was consolidated and creases were lessened with overall humidification. Tears in the skin were secured. The skin was then attached to the wooden rim with a series tabs. The areas of loss were inpainted concentrating with the black shadow of the letters.
